See-through Tram

It’s that time of year again, where time flies and everyone goes into overdrive to try to get things done. I am stuck in the same boat trying to do as much as possible and as usual neglecting the blog and my photography.

Sadly I don’t think I’ll find any time this year to go out and photograph the christmas lights, between work parties and looking after Max it will be pretty tight, plus we are flying to NZ in less than two weeks.

Glowing Alps

It’s been a few weeks since my last post, I’ve been distracted by other things as usual. As the temperature suddenly dropped and the snow came, I thought it would be nice to post a photo of some snowy alps.

Walking Home

Well this has been a very social weekend, first a wedding in France on Saturday then a 60th birthday party this afternoon, it’s been more running around than needed after a week with a couple of long work days and a couple of days off sick. But at least the weather was nice at the end of today while I walked home from the birthday party.

Lego men of the street parade

The street parade is on again, I still haven’t decided if I’m going down to take some shots. Hopefully I’ll be more decisive in the morning.

Speeding trains

Well I’ve now become a daily commuter on public transport, this is the first time in my life where I take the train every day, it’s kind of weird. I have to make sure I leave home or the office at about the right time so I’m not standing around on the track or running after and train or a tram. I already miss driving to work, I’ve always found driving relaxing, even in traffic jams. I’m hoping the train thing will grow on me. Let’s see.

Working in Zurich

I start a new job tomorrow, it’s been over 12 years since I worked in the city, that should be interesting. Let’s hope I can keep the photos coming.

Hopefully I’ll start taking photos while on my way to and from work, I guess I should get settled in the new place first :).

Santis from afar

And suddenly the journey is over, I realised just now that I have covered every country we passed except three,Gambia, Burkina Faso and Togo, which I have to admit I don’t have a single good photo of. We passed through these countries very quickly Gambia and Burkina were unbelievably hot. And we just drove from border to border in Togo, about 50Kms.

So here is a photo from Switzerland, the place where our trip truly started and ended. 1 and a half years down by car, 8 hours back by plane.

Old Town Rapperswil

Switzerland has got loads of little towns with these quaint cobblestone streets lined with ancient houses. I really don’t spend enough time photographing in this country I live in. Luckily I got out tonight thanks to an old friend.

I fear this is a fairly common problem for many people, especially in Switzerland, your cameras collect dust throughout most of the year until you head off to a fancy holiday destination, where you get all excited and take loads of photos, and end up spending more time photographing than enjoying the place you are in.

Warm evenings

I hope they’ll be here soon, the warm evenings that is. I always enjoy wandering around in the shallows of the swiss lakes with my camera after sunset.

Spring Flowers

Plenty of people only take their cameras with them when they go on holiday. There’s always opportunities to take photos, so take a camera with you wherever you go. I still haven’t been converted to smartphone photography except for snaps of Max when we are out walking or just messing about. So I tend to take my Fuji with me quite a bit, it’s light enough that I don’t really notice it if I carry it all day long. The image quality is superb and the EVF is great.
