Bush and Beach

I survived my first day at the new job. I’ll stop with the new jobs posts once I’m a little less pre occupied by the whole thing, give me a couple of days.

Here’s a shot from the “family beach” woolleys.

Dusk Quiver

I’ve finally finished sorting out the images from Namibia, so here is the last one for a while. This one is from the quiver tree forest in the South of the country.

Torekov Pier

While this photo is HDR, the sky was genuinely this pink, I have never seen such a pink sky. It’s similar to the Swiss red skies that we occasionally get, they are intense in colour.

Sunrise in Venice

We’re thinking about taking a short trip back to Venice soon, it’s a fairly compact place so we are hoping it will be good with Max.

If you want to see Venice empty like this, get up early! Forget sunset, everyone is out on the streets for that, go for sunrise or night shots.

Storm over Etosha

If you ever find yourself heading to Namibia, let me know, I can tell you about some of the best places to visit that are completely off the beaten track and you won’t find in any book.

This shot is from Namibia’s no.1 tourist destination, everything goes here to look for wildlife, sometimes you have to look elsewhere for interesting photos.

North Wharf

Like every other person with an interest in photography, I dabble with HDR, a lot less than I used to, that’s probably got a lot to do with how much better the dynamic range of the newer cameras is these days.

I’m pretty sure this is called North Wharf, not really sure what was here before, perhaps just a log depot before they got loaded onto boats for China or some other Asian city.

3 Days to Burn

That’s how long’s it’s taken for the jet lag to wear off and how long the fire smouldered for after New Years Eve.

While we were in NZ Max reached the young age of 6 months. All the warnings are true, life has changed drastically, for the better. As he get’s a little older it get’s a little easier, maybe we’ve gotten used to taking care of him, or just as he grows and becomes more aware of what’s going on around him it becomes more interesting for us.

As the few of you that read this blog have noticed since the arrival of Max I have posted less. Finding the time to take photographs, edit them and share them is a bit harder. It doesn’t mean that I have lost interest in doing it, I still enjoy sharing my photos and writing on this blog, so there will be plenty of posts to come over the years.

Thinking of Home

I’ve been thinking about New Zealand quite a bit recently. Even though I haven’t lived there for many years now, more than half my life, I still consider it home.

Monument atop One Tree Hill

I find it quite difficult when processing HDR photos to get blue sky right, especially when photographing just after sunset. The colour of the sky is so majestic yet Photomatix has a tendency to make it quite gray.
