Sun setting over Okaukeujo

This has to be my favourite waterhole in Etosha, I’ve spent countless hours at it over the years and it’s only a couple of minutes walk from the campsite.

Shooting at speed

One of the problems in some of the public national parks is the closing and opening times of the gates, while I understand these times are to make sure the animals and people are safe from colliding into each other at night. Due to enforced times what tends to happen is you stay out as long as you can and rush back to the camp or gate at speed, which endangers everyone more. It also means for us photographer types that we sometimes have to shoot out the window of a moving car.

Barren Coast

It’s been a tough week, Louise broke her foot, sadly it was doing something a lot less dull than jumping around the rocks on this very cool coastline in Sweden.

Big City Lights

LA is a pretty cool city. We were there in the middle of the LA winter and I was wearing shorts most of the time. If that’s what the weather is like, I want to move there.

I’ve lived in Switzerland for over 15 years now and its somehow worn out its charm on me. So I find myself daydreaming about where else in the world I could go, it’s always places I’ve visited. Somehow LA features on that list, which I find odd as the US is one of the last places I would have thought I would have ever wanted to live in.

Sueda Elephant

I’ve spent hours at this waterhole, I’m pretty sure it’s called Sueda. Wildlife photography isn’t always about big cameras and lenses sometimes you can get a great photo without using a telephoto lens. This was taken with a small Fuji X-E1.

Beverly Hills Sign

I felt pretty lucky standing there taking a photo of this sign when the Ferrari drove past, with the size of the houses around I’m surprised there weren’t more of them.

Wheat Fields

A nice thing about living on the edge of a small Swiss village is that you’re not very far from nature. The Swiss are very industrious and use every little bit of land and there are fields in every direction being cultivated. I don’t really get out enough and really need to start making an effort to look around the area I live in.

Vegas Lights

I’ve been to Vegas 3 times now, and each time for some reason the place sucks my photographic vision dry. I’ve only ever been there on short trips with family.

Trying to balance my photography and time with the family is quite hard especially when we live on opposite sides of the planet and only see each other for a few weeks every year.

I think I’ll have to start trying to get up early in the morning, that’ll give me an hour or two to take a few shots of the places I visit. I took this photo early in the morning from the Hotel room we were staying in.

Pink Swedish Sky

Last year was the first time I went to where I think Louise feels most at home. A small town on the west coast of Sweden called Torekov. Her parents have a small holiday home there, it’s a very peaceful place where the locals wander around in their bathrobes.

What Happened Next

Snowball fights were a daily thing while we were up in Zermatt for new years with the family. That massive snowball in mid air hit the camera right on the lens.
