I don’t recommend everyone do what I was doing with my camera in the Seychelles, my gear was getting pretty wet. I spent hours in the water with my camera or up close to the surf, luckily the waves are fairly timid there. I don’t have an underwater housing and all I did was wipe the camera down with a damp cloth to remove any salt residue. If you want to get unique shots you are going to have to put your camera and sometimes self at risk.
This shot was taken with a Nikon D4, a camera that can take a beating. I have treated most of my cameras this way including the non weather sealed ones, most of them have survived, dust, water and dirt can be wiped off the one thing that’s been effective at destroying my gear is dropping them. In the nearly 10 years I have been taking photographs I have destroyed 3 bodies and 2 lenses.
