Kiwi Surf

I enjoy photographing the ocean, I am happy to stand there poised waiting for a wave to break off in the distance in the last bit of light shining through the clouds. More than happy to stand waist deep in the water with my camera in hand crouching holding the camera close to the water and only raising it high above my head just before the wave comes crashing into me.

I’ve had a couple of close calls, recently in NZ, I had to jump over some sharp rocks as the tide tipped my tripod over with my D800 with 14-24 attached nearly hit the water. I prefer using the D4 when close to sea water, it’s had a couple of fairly wet encounters in the Seychelles and on the sardine run in South Africa.
