Baboon – Lake Manyara National Park

Baboons are generally quite ugly creatures and can be quite aggressive, on a cooler and overcast day this  group was quite chilled and relaxed. Perhaps they don’t handle heat too well.

Lake Manyara is a beautiful park, like many of the Northern parks in Tanzania. They all have stunning landscapes and are teeming with wildlife. The only downside to these parks are the tsetse flies if you go during the wetter months. I’ve been to the northern parks of Tanzania several times now. I definitely prefer the period between the short and long rains around February-March time. Not only are your chances of seeing the migration on the plains pretty good, everything is greener and full of life. It’s also a bit cooler and you get the occasional rain shower which can create some unique photographic opportunities.
