White Peacocks

Well I’d never heard of White Peacocks until I went to Isola Bella on Lago Maggiore in the North of Italy. Just a 5 minute boat ride from Baveno is this little island, it transports you back to a time when the stunning palace used to host guests like Napoleon and British royalty. Photographer friendly white Peacocks roam free in stunning terraced gardens that surround the palace on nearly all sides, the Peacocks enjoy putting on a show as they sit on vase like statues or fluff their feathers up, perhaps people feed them to get them to pose.

Only 2 minutes away is Isola Pescatore, another one of the Borromean islands, this island maintains its traditions as a fishing village, this is obvious when you walk the cobblestone streets and see fishing gear hanging from balconies and lying around in the corners of the small alleyways.

Luckily for me my family from New Zealand were on a small tour of Italy and said the closest they come to Zurich is Baveno, so we jumped in the car and drove the few hours to spend an evening with them one weekend. Having more time in this area would have been nice but it’s only a 3 hour drive so I think I’ll be going back.

You are right. Its a while since I looked at your blog. I like the fire the best and the dolphins under the ship. Dont really like the night sky one because the stars are not that vivid. Interesting blog to read as well. Nice work
